Details:
Al’s Bar is located on the Morecambe Promenade, and was recently Re-Opened after a spate of name changes and various changes of ownership.
The Owner, Zena, wants somewhere that is safe for everyone to go, irrespective of their gender, age or Sexual Orientation / Preferences.
Zena, herself, is heterosexual; but believes that we should live in a free world, where people can make their own sexual / gender decisions, and we (the lgbt community) should live without fear of repercussions / reprisal.
Zena has offered her venue, Al’s Bar, as a place to have the first Morecambe-based lgbt (Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual or Transgender) disco. If it is a success, then Zena has offered to have a regular event held there. For details on future events, visit www.event-lgbt.net after the event for photos and details of future events.
Currently, Morecambe does not have any lgbt-safe pubs; Zena wants Al’s Bar to be the first in Morecambe. Zena believes everyone should feel safe on a night out.
Lancaster is different - it’s Student Orientated, and is therefore much more accepting. Let’s try and make Morecambe a safe place for us to go too!
So please, come along and enjoy an evening of Classic & New Pop/Dance Music, as well as all your camp favorites, in safe and friendly surroundings!
For those that want to go and “Scout” the place before (please, feel free to enjoy their warm hospitality), please take into consideration that Zena has recently taken over, and the place is due to be re-decorated the week before the event - you should still be able to smell the paint on the 6th!
So, mark the 6th of May on your Calendar - it should be fun!

Er, i thought PACHA, then BAROQUE, now the Queens was Morecambes first GAY FRIENDLY venue??
PS, its re-opening very soon !!!!!!!!
Hi,
It was the first gay friendly venue in Morecambe (at the time), but unfortunately it has been opened and closed that many times that the LGBT community has lost faith in the place. And the fact that it has now been closed for some considerable time. I was only discussing this with some friends the other day - Their exact words were “The Queen’s has had it’s chance and blown it”. Rumors are that the place is now going to be a straight bar, and that we won’t be welcome. But those are just rumors.
So Al’s Bar with currently be the only LGBT Friendly venue in Morecambe, where we feel Safe and Secure.
The best time at Baroque was when Wayne and Matthew had it - after that, it just went down the pan. After they went, and although the place was still claiming to be Gay Friendly, the new landlady threatened to bar me and my partner for kissing. To me, that goes completely against the Gay Friendly claims.
